I was saddened to read the March 14 article Internet cafe probe snags dozens, on the proliferation of Internet-cafe gambling dens in Florida and the political conflicts tied to them. I was pleased that the Allied Veterans front wasn’t operating in Miami-Dade or Broward counties, where voters approved gaming expansion legally.
It’s time for the Legislature to approve the two final games (dice and roulette) that would permit our legal venues to advertise full casinos. Florida could then attract out-of-state tourists and the many conventions that go with them. Allowing the Seminole Tribe to operate outside of its reservation would only be fair. And, a Florida Gaming Commission on par with that in Nevada would help by regulating our future gaming establishments.
