Lightning ink Koekkoek to entry-level deal

The Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday signed 2012 first-round draft pick Slater Koekkoek to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Koekkoek, a left-handed shooting defenseman who was picked with the 10th overall selection by the Bolts, has totaled six goals and 29 points in 42 combined games for Peterborough and Windsor of the Ontario Hockey League this year.

The 19-year-old Ontario native has played in 133 games in Canadian juniors, compiling 18 goals and 70 points over three seasons.
