No tax exemption

 

Re the March 15 article Local organizers say no to NFL hotel-tax exemption: It’s laughable that the members of the National Football League think that they should be exempt from paying local hotel taxes on the rooms they will be using during the Super Bowl. Isn’t it bad enough that they travel with myriad employees that will displace local workers from plying their specific skills?

They say that this is part of the process for generating economic impact and exposure. But where is the economic impact on all those displaced Florida workers?

  • Plant thief at Fairchild Gardens

    I was recently at Fairchild Gardens and after much consideration, purchased two lovely specimens from the Flowering Tree Society’s plant sale. A very nice helper offered to take my plants to the front entrance. I could have carried them with my friend Jim, but she was adorable and I told her I’d drive my car around. When I got there, her face was red and she was on the verge of tears.
