The Cincinnati Bengals announced the re- signing of linebacker Rey Maualuga on Monday.

The 26-year-old posted a career high of 122 tackles, along with one sack, in 16 games for Cincinnati last season, his fourth with the franchise.

"Rey has been a fine young player for us, and he continues to grow on and off the field," said Bengals coach Marvin Lewis. "He is passionate about becoming a great player, and we're excited to have him back as we work with these signings to keep our defense together."

Maualuga was selected by the Bengals 38th overall in the 2009 draft, after he completed a standout four-year career with Southern California.

In 60 career appearances, he has racked up 348 tackles, three sacks and three interceptions.
