Lauderhill police is investigating the death of woman whose car ended up in a canal early Sunday.
The woman has been identified as Ashley Farara, 20, of Sunrise.
An autopsy will determine her exact cause of death.
Farara was found Sunday morning when Lauderhill Police and Fire Rescue Departments responded to the area of 4800 block of North University Drive after a call of a vehicle in a nearby canal.
Arriving units saw a dark colored vehicle submerged in the canal with a person inside.
Rescue workers attempted to free Farara by wading into the water and breaking out a car window.

It’s unclear if Farara was behind the wheel of the vehicle.
Residents in the area told police that at 5:30 a.m. they saw a dark colored vehicle was seen "driving slowly" northbound through the adjoining parking lot.
Investigators are attempting to determine if this was Farara's vehicle and how it ended up in the canal.
