The Sports Network

Canadian Patrick Chan won his third consecutive men's world figure skating title.

Chan finished second in Friday's free skate, but had an overall score of 267.78 to top Kazakhstan's Denis Ten (266.48). Javier Fernandez of Spain came in third with 249.06 points.

Max Aaron (238.36) was the top American in seventh place. Ross Miner (211.90) came in 14th.

Chan was fifth at the Olympics in 2010, but the 22-year-old has been steadily climbing the ladder in international competitions. In addition to being a two- time (2010 & 2011) Grand Prix Final champion and a two-time (2009 & 2012) Four Continents champion, the Toronto native is also a six-time (2008-2013) Canadian titlist.
