Colts cut loose S Zbikowski

The Sports Network

The Indianapolis Colts released safety Tom Zbikowski Friday following one injury-plagued season with the team.

The Colts signed Zbikowski to a three-year contract last March, with the former Baltimore Raven starting the club's first 11 contests before missing five straight outings with a knee sprain. The Notre Dame product was deemed expendable, however, after Indianapolis reached agreement with free agent LaRon Landry on a reported four-year, $24 million contract on Thursday.

Zbikowski compiled 38 tackles, one sack and one interception in his lone season in Indianapolis.

The 27-year-old spent his first four NFL campaigns with the Ravens, during which current Colts head coach Chuck Pagano then served as a defensive assistant.
