The Arizona Cardinals have released quarterback Kevin Kolb, who spent just two seasons with the club after being acquired in a trade with Philadelphia.

Kolb never lived up to the contract he signed in the summer of 2011, a reported $63 million deal that included more than $20 million in guaranteed money, and the Cardinals decided to cut him loose after the two sides were unable to work out a restructured deal. He was due a $2 million roster bonus.

The Cardinals inked quarterback Drew Stanton as a free agent earlier this week and also have John Skelton and Ryan Lindley still under contract. Kolb, Skelton and Lindley all started games for the offensively challenged Cardinals in 2012.

Kolb appeared in 15 games and started 14 during his two-year stint in the desert. He completed 58.4 percent of his passes for 3,124 yards with 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
