Interstate 595 near airport reopens after pedestrian is struck and killed

A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 595 Wednesday night, closing all eastbound lanes of the expressway east of Interstate 95.

The lanes reopened just before 2 a.m. Thursday, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Sgt Mark Wysocky of the Florida Highway Patrol said travelers going to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport were affected and had to take Griffin Road or Davie Boulevard from I-95 to U.S. 1.

The pedestrian was not immediately identified.
