Worker plucked out of Davie water tank after falling inside

Davie Fire Rescue saved a man who fell into a water tank Wednesday afternoon at Nova Southeastern University in West Broward.

The man was a contractor for third-party maintenance company Grycon and was inspecting the tank, said David Dawson, the executive director of university relations for Nova Southeastern.

Fire marshal Tony Precanico said the older man was inside the tank when he became tired. He was queasy and could not get up and out of the tank, which he would usually exit using a rope ladder.

He was not at risk of drowning because there were only a few inches of water in the tank, Dawson said.

Nova Southeastern’s public safety department called Davie Fire Rescue to assist him.

The fire department helped him out of the tank. He was not injured.
