A man died Tuesday after he crashed his motorcycle into a tree in Lauderhill.

Eric Burnett Freeman was riding east on Northwest 33rd Street toward Inverrary Boulevard West on his 2005 Suzuki Hayabusa about 3:30 p.m., according to a report by the Lauderhill Police Department.

Somehow, he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into the tree. Freeman was thrown from the motorcycle into the road.

Rescue workers found him dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved.

Investigators found a helmet nearby, but did not know whether Freeman was wearing it at the time of the crash, according to the report.

Police also were investigating what caused Freeman to lose control of his motorcycle.

Investigators asked anyone with information about the crash to call the Lauderhill Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit at 954-497-4700.
