Hornets' Rivers has surgery

The New Orleans Hornets announced Tuesday that rookie guard Austin Rivers underwent successful surgery to repair a fracture in the fourth metacarpal of his right hand.

Rivers is currently recovering from the surgery and will return to New Orleans by the end of this week in order to begin his rehabilitation. The process is expected to take 4-to-6 weeks.

The Duke product has averaged 6.2 points, 2.1 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 61 games (26 starts) this season. He initally sustained the injury on Mar. 6.
