It’s a shame that the city of Hollywood decided to change its law of almost 24 years as reported in the March 6 article, Despite city law, Clydesdales will hoof it down Hollywood Boulevard, that bans the display of animals on public property. With all the hidden cruelty of circuses, rodeos, petting zoos and the like, this landmark law — the first in the country — inspired many other cities to pass similar laws. Weakening this law means that little by little, animal abuse will creep back to Hollywood. Commissioners will regret this decision when they have to hold public meetings for every animal act that comes to town.
