Miami Herald Staff Report

A 21-year-old Miami man accused of shooting his teenage girlfriend in Hialeah was denied bond Monday morning and continues to be held in Miami-Dade County Jail on a charge of second-degree murder.

Hialeah police arrested Yoan Raul Dominguez on Sunday in East Little Havana.

Police said the violence played out Saturday afternoon when Genesis Fonseca, 17, was shot and killed at her mother’s Hialeah apartment at 6396 W. 27th Ave. Police said witnesses saw Dominguez running from the apartment.

Fonseca and Dominguez lived in Miami and were at the Hialeah apartment visiting Fonseca’s mother, who was not home when her daughter was fatally wounded, according to Hialeah police.

Fonseca was shot in the head and died immediately. The suspect had been dating Fonseca for four months, according to the arrest report released Monday. By Sunday, he had talked to his mother and another close friend about the killing.

Dominguez had a string of arrests last year on charges ranging from robbery, resisting arrest, battery on the elderly and trespassing after warnings.
