Police have identified the victim of a shooting at the Calle Ocho Festival.
Victor Cruz, 27, was shot in the left buttock Sunday following an argument between several men on the corner of Southwest 8th Street and 11th Avenue.
He was released from Jackson Memorial Hospital Monday.
Police spokesman Freddie Cruz said Cruz did not realize he was shot until he fell and noticed he was bloodied.
The incident occurred late in the afternoon as an estimated million revelers sipped from a 500-gallon pitcher of sangria, listened to Latin pop and Reggaeton performances and munched festival food during the annual, popular event sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana.
Cruz reports there were numerous arrests for disorderly conduct and a couple narcotics but the number was actually lower for arrests, he said. It was a peaceful event, overall.
Miami police are still investigating and have not made any arrests in the shooting.
