Bobrovsky, Crosby, Carter named NHL's 'Three Stars'

Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby and Los Angeles Kings center Jeff Carter have been selected as the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week ending March 10.

Bobrovsky earned the First Star after posting a league-high four victories to go along with his first career shutout, a goals-against average of 0.77 and a .972 save percentage last week. He capped his week with a pair of wins over Detroit, including a 30-save shutout on Saturday.

Crosby picked up the Second Star with nine assists and 11 points in four games. He tied a career best with five assists in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Islanders.

Carter scored six goals in four games last week to claim the Third Star. He recorded his fifth career hat trick in a 5-1 win over Nashville on March 4.

    The young Detroit Red Wings have made the mighty Chicago Blackhawks look vulnerable, beating them two straight times to gain an advantage in their last playoff matchup as Western Conference rivals.

    Jimmy Howard was stellar with a 39-save effort on Monday night to help the Detroit Red Wings take a 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 3 of this Western Conference semifinal series. Pavel Datsyuk, Gustav Nyquist and Drew Miller all scored goals for the Red Wings, who now hold a 2-1 lead in this series thanks to consecutive wins after dropping the series opener. Patrick Kane had the lone goal while Corey Crawford gave up all three goals on 30 shots for the Blackhawks, who were partially undone by an 0-for-4 effort on the power play. Game 4 of this best- of-seven set will take place on Thursday night in Detroit.
