The recent visit to North Korea by a retired basketball player, Dennis Rodham, received media attention due to his eccentric personality. While people find his visit amusing, nothing is funny about the plight of the people of North Korea. Many of these people subsist on starvation diets, and live a life span less than South Koreans. The entire nation is a virtual prison which, according to Freedom House, has hundreds of thousands of political prisoners. Freedom of the press, assembly, speech and religion is nonexistent. In summary, this hell on earth should be openly exposed, not lauded by a former sports figure who is badly informed.
