Election Day in Miami Springs is less than a month away and two events are on the docket to help residents decide who should get their vote on Tuesday, April 2. There are two candidates for mayor and seven for two council seats.

The first opportunity to get to know the candidates is this Monday, March 11 when the Miami Springs Woman’s Club hosts its “Meet the Candidates” luncheon at the Miami Springs Lions Club (301 Swallow Drive), starting at 11 a.m. The setting will be informal and the candidates will answer questions one-on-one with residents.

The second chance for voters to see the candidates together and view them in a more formal setting will be the “Candidates Forum” on Friday, March 22. This event, co-sponsored by the Miami Springs Airport Area Chamber of Commerce and the Woman’s Club,  will take place in the Rebeca Sosa Theatre at the Community Center (1401 Westward Dr.), starting at 7 p.m.

The candidates for mayor are incumbent Zavier Garcia and Councilwoman Jennifer Ator. There are five candidates for Group I: Alexander Anthony, Miguel Becerra, Helen Lawrence, Nestor Suarez and Michael Windrem; and two candidates for Group IV: Constantino Hernandez and Jaime Petralanda.
