Moore set to return to Miami

The Sports Network

The Miami Dolphins and quarterback Matt Moore have reportedly agreed to a new contract.

According to the Miami Herald and NFL.com, Moore will earn $8 million over two years to remain the backup to Ryan Tannehill.

Moore was thought to be the front-runner for the starting role at the outset of the 2012 season, but lost a training camp battle to Tannehill. He appeared in two games last year, throwing for 131 yards with a touchdown on 11-of-19 passing.

The six-year veteran finished the 2011 season as Miami's starter after Chad Henne was injured and helped the Dolphins to a 6-6 mark in his 12 starts. He spent his first four NFL seasons with Carolina.
