Jackson Health System CEO and president Carlos Migoya has donated his $160,000 bonus to support renovations of Jackson Women’s Hospital.
The money will go toward the $20 million fundraising goal for the project. Renovations are intended to “modernize” the hospital with upgrades including private suites for family visits.
Migoya, who has been CEO since 2011, has a son who was born at Jackson 35 years ago. The boy weighed 1 pound at birth and was in severe medical danger.
“Jackson does so much for this community, and now it’s time we all get involved to ensure that this institution grows in its mission to provide high-quality health care,” Migoya said in a news release.
“Carlos Migoya and the foundation understand that every family wants their delivery experience to be comfortable. Even more important, everyone deserves an opportunity to have the peace of mind that if something goes wrong they are in the best hands,” said Thomas J. Schramm, CEO of Jackson Memorial Foundation, in a statement. “We want our patients to have the most modern and comfortable facilities — that’s why these renovations are critical.”
