South Beach moving closer to a miniature golf course

Miniature golf has moved closer to a South Beach debut with approval by a city board for a course that wants to open next year. The Lincoln Road Putting Club plans to open on the roof of the Michigan Avenue building that houses the Lucky Strike bowling alley.

The Lincoln Road Putting Club doesn’t plan to open its 18-hole miniature golf course until the fall of 2014. It sent out a press release this week touting approval by the Miami Beach Design Review Board of the plan created by Berenblum Busch Architecture for the complex at 1691 Michigan Avenue. The Putting Club is set to include a restaurant and tropical garden, along with views overlooking the popular Lincoln Road pedestrian mall.
