Coral Reef Park hosted Palmetto Bay’s 11th annual Celebration Picnic on Saturday.

Despite chilly temperatures in the 60s and overcast morning skies, a couple thousand village residents and neighbors came out for the popular event which featured kiddie attractions and free sodas and water, hot dogs, roasted corn-on-the-cob and pizza slices from Frankie’s Pizza — which drew the longest lines.

The event also offered musical performances at the park’s pavilion from area students, including some tunes from Coral Reef Elementary, under the direction of Teddy Nicholeris. “He’s like the pied piper with the kids,” said Palmetto Bay Councilwoman Joan Lindsay.

The picnic is held every March to celebrated the village’s incorporation.
