Congress closed up shop

 

Without coming to an agreement about the budget, both houses of Congress closed up shop and left last week. I hope they remembered to sign their letter of resignation.

    Support small businesses

    The number of small businesses in the United States and their economic impact has increased dramatically in recent decades. According to the Small Business Administration, small businesses currently provide 55 percent of all jobs and are responsible for 66 percent of all net new jobs since the 1970s.

    By signing HB 655, which bars local governments from enacting their own ordinances on employee benefits, Gov. Rick Scott shows once again that he is beholden to big business at any cost — even at the expense of women, children, workers and those falling behind.
