Super Ninety Nine likely for Rebel Stakes

The Sports Network

Super Ninety Nine, trained by Bob Baffert, is a probable starter in this month's Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park. The 3-year-old colt captured Oaklawn's Southwest Stakes on Feb. 18.

"Super 99 might be going back for The Rebel. Looking strong," Baffert recently tweeted. The 3-year-old has been training at Santa Anita.

Owned by Tanma Corp., Super Ninety Nine won the 1 1/16-mile Southwest by more than 11-lengths as the even-money favorite versus nine challengers. With three wins in five starts the colt has earned $266,480 and is ninth in the opening NTRA Three-Year-Old Thoroughbred Poll.

The Rebel goes off on Saturday, March 16 and is a prep for the Arkansas Derby on April 13.
