Dashama Gordon has been called the “Tony Robbins of Yoga,” but she is also an author, holistic lifestyle guru and a health and fitness trainer.
In November, she is producing the We Are One 10K relay race that plans to bring together celebrities, professional athletes, corporate execs, families and friends to participate in a race with the theme of health and sustainability.
“This year I am producing an event with the Miami Dolphins,” Gordon said. “It will be a 10K relay, but if someone wants to run the whole thing they can. It is a 10K relay, so you can have up to six people on a team and each person run a mile. We are raising money for our charity partners and to bring the community together.”
The relay at Sun Life Stadium will allow the participants to choose from a list of charities for which they can raise funds for such as the American Heart Association and Make-a-Wish, according Dashama.
Spanning the globe
After competing in more than 50 marathons on six continents and three years awaiting approval, Miami runner Lorna Castellanos will be headed to Antarctica.
Her journey will take her across the United States to South America. She will have to fly to Buenos Aires, then Tierra del Fuego in Argentina. From there she will take a boat to Antarctica.
She will be competing in the 14th annual Antarctica Marathon on Thursday.
The half marathon and marathon are held on King George Island along gravel roads where the participants will get to run alongside penguins and icebergs.
The popular event is sold out through 2016.
Mudder of all runs
The Merrell Down and Dirty Mud Run will be held at Zoo Miami on May 5.
