Police are trying to determine if two separate shootings blocks apart in a Northwest Miami-Dade neighborhood were connected.
Sunday afternoon officers sent to check reports of gunfire in the area of Northwest 63rd Street and 18th Avenue found the body of a 24-year old man who had been shot to death in the middle of the street.
Witnesses told police four men in a white van, drove up to the victim, opened fire and then sped off. Neighbors ran for cover.
Police are searching the white van, whcih has dark tints. The men were reportedly armed with assault rifles.
A short time later, there were reports of gunfire on the 25000 block of Northwest 59th Street. Officers found a man with a gunshot wounds to the legs. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. His condition is unknown.
Police have not released the name of the man who died.
