Several lanes of traffic reopened Thursday night in a section of Florida’s Turnpike in north Miami-Dade following a tractor trailer fire during Thursday’s rush-hour.
As of 7 p.m., hundreds of motorists were caught in the massive tie-up.
One southbound lane had reopened, allowing traffic to inch pass the crash. All northbound lanes were open, but moving slowly at around Northwest 210th Street and Hallandale Beach, near Calder Race Track.
The fire destroyed the southbound tractor trailer and its cargo. The truck burst into flames after it collided with another truck at around 5:30 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said.
No one was injured in the fiery collision near Miami Gardens Drive, but vehicles were backed up to Hollywood.
