Miami-Dade schools police are looking into a student’s report that someone threatened on Facebook to shoot up a street that runs north past Miami Northwestern Senior High School.
So far, there is nothing to indicate the possibly gang-related threat had anything to do specifically with the Model City school at Northwest 12th Avenue and 71st Street, said Sgt. Ivan Silva, a police spokesman. But Silva said schools police drove to the student’s home Wednesday night to take a report.
Silva said the threat, which he could not recite, was posted under a nickname.
“It wasn’t anything specific to shooting the school,” he said. “It was listed as a street number to shoot up gang members.”
Silva said more information would be released when it became available, though he said the case might be transferred to a different department if it turns out to be unrelated to Miami-Dade Schools.
