Knicks' Wallace to have foot surgery

The New York Knicks announced Wednesday that forward Rasheed Wallace will require surgery to repair a fractured left foot and is expected to miss an additional eight weeks.

The procedure will effectively keep Wallace, who hasn't played since Dec. 13, sidelined for the remainder of the regular season.

Wallace came out of a two-year retirement to join the Knicks this season. In 20 games, he averaged 7.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

The 38-year-old holds career averages of 14.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 blocks in 1,108 games (956 starts) over 15 seasons with Washington, Portland, Atlanta, Detroit, Boston and New York.

A four-time NBA All-Star, Wallace won an NBA Championship with Detroit in 2004, alongside then-assistant coach Mike Woodson.

    Tim Duncan is doing his very best to get the San Antonio Spurs back to the NBA Finals one more time.

    Gregory Campbell scored the go-ahead and insurance goals, while Tuukka Rask made 28 saves as the Boston Bruins eliminated the New York Rangers with a 3-1 decision in Game 5 of this Eastern Conference semifinal from TD Garden. Torey Krug added another marker for the Bruins, who reached the conference finals for the second time in the last three years. Boston will take on the top-seeded Penguins in the Eastern Conference finals, the first time these two clubs meet in the penultimate playoff round since Pittsburgh swept the Bruins in four straight 21 years ago. Dan Girardi's first-period strike was all the offense for the Rangers, who couldn't maintain momentum from Thursday's 4-3 overtime victory which kept them alive in the best-of-seven set. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 29 shots in New York's season-ending defeat.
