A North Miami man wanted by Hallandale Beach Police on armed burglary, aggravated battery and murder charges turned himself in Tuesday.

Accompanied by his attorney, Frantzy Etienne surrendered at the Hallandale Beach Police Department about 3 p.m. and was taken to Broward Sheriff’s Office main jail.

Police say Etienne, armed with a big stick, forced his way into a home on the 300 block of Northwest Fifth Avenue with a six-foot wooden stick early Sunday and then took part in a fight that led to another man’s death.

Etienne, 29, got into a struggle with three other individuals, one of whom fired a gun in defense.

Macarthur Smith, 26, was shot in the torso and died. Maria Smith was shot in the left forearm and was treated and released from Hollywood Memorial Regional Hospital.
