The Miami-Dade Police Department should examine the way it handles cases such as the shoot out that took place in Kendall on Feb. 19. As police went to investigate a drug-related case in a residential area, they put the lives of thousands of residents at risk. As a resident, I was afraid to leave my house or even look outdoors.
Within a two-mile radius of the scene, there are more than five schools, which shows how many children live in this neighborhood. The inconvenience caused by the perimeter would have been completely unnecessary if MDPD had handled this case more effectively.
