Hallandale Beach police are searching for a man they say forced his way into a home with a six-foot wooden stick and then took part in a fight that led to another man’s death.
Police say Frantzy Etienne, 29, forced his way into a home on the 300 block of Northwest Fifth Avenue in Hallandale Beach about 3 a.m. Sunday and was then involved in a struggle with three other individuals — one of whom fired a gun multiple times in self defense.
Macarthur Smith, 26, was shot in the torso and died. Maria Smith was shot in the left forearm and was treated and released from Hollywood Memorial Regional Hospital.
Etienne, who has a violent criminal past according to police, is described as a black male, 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-10, 175 pounds. Police believe he is living at 426 NW 143rd St. in North Miami.
He is facing charges of armed burglary, aggravated battery and murder.
The Hallandale Beach Police Department is asking anyone with information to call Detective Wissem Mejdoub at 954-457-1436 or Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477. Any information leading to the suspect’s arrest could receive a $1,000 reward.
