Re the Jan. 25 article, Gov. Scott: Give teachers $2,500 annual pay raise: At first blush, it seems rather generous that Gov. Rick Scott is recommending that the Legislature finance a $2,500 raise for every teacher in the state. As I understand it, the governor is proposing a raise, not a one-time bonus. That means, the state will pay the first year’s installment, but local school districts will be responsible for funding $2,500 every year thereafter. Good idea?
