Matt Cullen scored twice and also added an assist on Thursday, as the Minnesota Wild earned a 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place.

Devin Setoguchi scored the go-ahead goal early in the final frame, while Niklas Backstrom stopped 27 shots to help the Wild notch their second straight victory.

Ryan Smyth registered the lone Edmonton goal and Devan Dubnyk was charged for all three goals on 28 shots in the setback, the Oilers' eighth in their last 10 games.

"It's frustrating, that's the only word to describe it," Edmonton forward Jordan Eberle said of the loss. "We have to find a way to play a close game and find a way to get a greasy goal."

After a scoreless first frame, Edmonton opened the scoring at the 12:26 mark of the second when Smyth corralled a rebound behind the net and was able to stuff in a wraparound before Backstrom could recover to put Edmonton in front.

It was all Minnesota from there, however, as the Wild scored three unanswered goals to take control.

"A great response and a great job by our guys sticking with our game," Wild coach Mike Yeo said of his team battling back from a goal down.

The first came under three minutes later when Cullen picked up a loose puck near the Edmonton blue line before sneaking a backhand through the five-hole of Dubnyk to knot the game at 1-1 at the 15:02 mark.

The Wild then jumped in front early in the third when Cullen came up with a steal below the Edmonton goal line and threw a no-look feed into the slot for Setoguchi, who buried a one-timer past Dubnyk to make it 2-1 at 2:20.

Minnesota padded its lead late in the third when Cullen skated into the zone and rifled a wrister from the top of the right circle that beat Dubnyk high to the stick side with just over six minutes left to account for the final margin.

Things got a bit chippy late in the contest when Minnesota forward Cal Clutterbuck took a vicious knee-to-knee hit from Edmonton forward Taylor Hall near the red line.

"I really didn't feel like it was knee-on-knee at all," Hall said of the hit. "I felt I got him with maybe my hip or torso area. It was just a weird play. I don't really think it was that dirty."

Hall received a five-minute major and a game misconduct, while Clutterbuck was unable to put any weight on his left leg as he was helped off the ice, where a stretcher was waiting for him just beyond the end boards.
