Hip SLS hotel brand Downtown Miami-bound?

hsampson@MiamiHerald.com

Months after opening the SLS Hotel South Beach, is the company behind the hip hotel eyeing Downtown Miami?

That possibility has been rumored around town for weeks now, showing up recently on the exMiami.org forum and Curbed Miami website. According to the sites, the hotel would be attached to a new condo project by The Related Group at 1300 S. Miami Ave. near Brickell Avenue.

The developer bought the site last year for $18.5 million.

Representatives for The Related Group and sbe, the hospitality, real estate and entertainment company behind SLS, had no comment Tuesday.
