Miami Gardens police are investigating a body found in a city canal.

A construction crew working on Northwest 7th Avenue and 202nd Street called police when they saw what they believed to be a body in the water, said Miami Gardens police spokesman Sgt. Bill Bamford.

“We don’t know anything about the body, whether it’s male or female or the circumstances surrounding how it got there,” Bamford said.

The Miami-Dade Police dive team is en route to remove the body from the water.
