Chopin-prize award winner will perform classical music in South Florida

Taiwanese pianist Yi-Yang Chen will perform two classical music performances in Miami-Dade and Broward in February.

The performances, called “Chopin for All,” will be 3 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Broward County Main Library, 100 S. Andrews Ave. in Fort Lauderdale and 3 p.m. Feb. 17 at Granada Presbyterian Church, 950 University Dr. in Coral Gables.

Chen, 18, who was the winner of the Chopin Prize from the Music Teachers National Association’s Piano Competition in 2012, will give a solo recital at both venues. There will be a selection of Beethoven, Brahms and of course, Chopin. No tickets are required for the concert, which is free to the public.
