Edward Wasserman’s Feb. 11 Other Views column, OMG – Senator Geraldo Rivera?, bashed Rivera’s possible New Jersey Senate candidacy. First, he quotes Sonny Albarado saying, “running for public office and being a journalist are incompatible.” He then describes Rivera as “a vaguely clownish self-promoter and its hard for me to condemn him for betraying journalistic principle when I never thought he was a journalist.” He continues by knocking Rivera’s relationship with Fox News.
Has he ever heard of Al Franken? Does he know of Franken’s background? This article is nothing more than a liberal’s view of who should run for public office. If he decides to run for the Senate, let New Jersey voters decide.
