Each year, U.S. government agencies spend more than $500 billion on private contracts, with 23 percent of those funds allotted to small businesses.

Among the free resources available to help small businesses through the process is an eGuide launched by Microsoft and five other small business organizations. The eGuide walks small businesses through the steps of applying for and securing government contacts, Microsoft said. It is available for free at www.microsoftbusinesshub.com.
