Did Mayor Regalado’s position on gambling change?

 

The Feb. 1 interview of city of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado with Helen Aguirre on Channel 2 reminded me of how brazen some of our politicians can be when journalists — and the community — don’t hold them accountable.

When the host asked Mayor Regalado his position on gaming in Miami, the mayor’s unabashed answer was that he opposed gaming and Genting’s project. What’s shocking is that the mayor went out of his way to welcome Genting’s chairman to Miami and gave him the key to the city less than a year ago. With election season only a few months away, we must remind our elected officials that, while some in the media may not remember, the citizens of Miami will not forget.

  • Plant thief at Fairchild Gardens

    I was recently at Fairchild Gardens and after much consideration, purchased two lovely specimens from the Flowering Tree Society’s plant sale. A very nice helper offered to take my plants to the front entrance. I could have carried them with my friend Jim, but she was adorable and I told her I’d drive my car around. When I got there, her face was red and she was on the verge of tears.
