County Commissioner Jean Monestime continues his work to improve the quality of life of District 2 residents by bringing fresh fruits, vegetables and baked goods closer to residents. 
Commissioner Monestime has announced the opening of a farmers' market at Arcola Lakes Branch Library, 8240 NW 7th Avenue, in the West Little River neighborhood. The farmers' market is open every Saturday until April 13, 2013, from noon to 3 p.m. All vendors accept cash, credit/debit and EBT cards.

The farmers' market is sponsored by a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant awarded to a local non-profit organizations,  Youth L.E.A.D. and Urban Greenworks,  with additional support from the Health Foundation of South Florida,  Commissioner Monestime's office and the Miami-Dade Public Library System. The market is managed by Youth L.E.A.D.

On Saturday, February 9, at 1 p.m. the market will feature a cooking presentation by Chef Suzanne Natalie Barr and the Emerge Miami bike group will end their monthly bike ride at the market on that day as well.
