•  Region 4-3A quarterfinal — Miami Country Day 58, Florida Christian 20: Looking like a serious contender for their first state title, the host Spartans (25-1) routed the overmatched Patriots (19-11). The Spartans, ranked No. 1 in the state in 3A, will play either Palmer Trinity or Archbishop Curley in Tuesday’s regional semifinals.

•  Region 4-6A quarterfinal — Archbishop McCarthy 44, Northwestern 35: Although they played without any seniors, the Mavericks managed to pull ahead and win in the final minutes. Freshman Hailey Duren scored a team-high 18 points and added nine steals and nine blocks. Archbishop McCarthy improved to 16-9 and will continue through the playoffs.

AM: Middleton 13, Periu 4, Amortegui 6, Duren 18, Kouri 3. NW: Noble 7, Allen 3, Dawkins 3, Huel 2, Gunn 5, Stalworth 15. Halftime: 21-17 AM. Three-pointers: Middleton 2, Noble. Rebounds: Duren 13. Assists: Middleton 2. Steals: Duren 9. Blocks: Duren 9.

•  Region 4-8A quarterfinals — Krop 52, Miami Beach 43: After two years of making deep playoff runs, most thought that Krop would have more problems than it did answers after losing three of its top four players before the start of the season.

They had an answer Thursday night, defeating visiting Miami Beach in the Region 4-8A quarterfinals.

The Lightning (21-4) will face Miami High on Tuesday in the regional semifinals.

•  Region 4-4A quarterfinal — Coral Springs Charter 58, Jackson 17: Miami Jackson’s girls traveled to Broward County to play Coral Springs Charter in a Region 4-4A quarterfinal game.

The Generals could not keep up with the host Panthers and lost.

Coral Springs Charter was led by Morgan Smellie with a game-high 14 points on four three-pointers to go along with four rebounds and four assist.

The Panthers’ pressure defense shut down the Generals, outscoring them 23-4 in the second quarter and took a 39-7 lead into halftime.

•  Region 4-4A quarterfinal — Ransom Everglades 43, St. Brendan 31: The Raiders (18-4) came out of halftime fired up and outscored the Sabres 11-2 in the third quarter to help clinch the Region 4-4A quarterfinal victory at Ransom Everglades.

With the win, the Raiders advanced to the Region 4-4A semifinal, where it will face Gulliver. The two teams met twice in the regular season and split the two games.

•  Region 4-8A quarterfinal — Lourdes 63, Palmetto 23: From the opening tip to the final buzzer, the Lourdes Bobcats (26-1) were in full command as they cruised to a blowout victory over the Palmetto Panthers (13-10) in their quarterfinal matchup at Belen.

    The Monsignor Pace baseball team has 17 seniors who still have a sour taste in their mouths from a 1-0 state semifinal loss to Bishop Verot that ended their junior seasons last year.
