A Wilton Manors man employed by a shelter for abused children faces charges that he had sex with an underage girl who was staying at the facility.

For the past 10 years, Brian Fields, 31, has worked the night shift at Kids in Distress. He was arrested Wednesday and charged with 12 felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a person younger than 16, according to Wilton Manors police.

A social worker contacted Wilton Manors police Feb. 1 to report that Fields assaulted a 15-year-old girl who was staying at the center. The girl was assaulted by a different male employee of Kids in Distress last month, according to reports.

Police said they discovered that Fields had four sexual encounters with the girl in December and January.

Fields remained in Broward County’s main jail Thursday with bond set at $120,000.
