Cypress Bay halts Miramar to win district

• McArthur baseball had two of its players sign Wednesday as Kevin Rosario and Javier Aquilar signed with Three Rivers Community College in Missouri.

• Blanche Ely had two basketball players sign Wednesday.

Dallas Cameron, a 6-3 guard who helped Blanche Ely win the Class 5A state title last season, will play at American University in Washington, DC. He is currently averaging 9.9 points a game and is second on the team with 7.1 assists per game.

His teammate Khalil Thomas (6-7 forward) signed with Rider University in New Jersey. He currently leads the 20-1 Tigers with 13.1 points per game and leads the county in rebounds with 13.2 per game.

• Archbishop McCarthy had four of its athletes sign. Baseball standout Jonathan Quintana signed with Barry University. Kaitlyn Ortagus signed with Brevard Community College for softball. Nicholas Elias signed with Wingate University for lacrosse. Jacob Blanco signed with FAU for soccer.

• Calvary Christian pole vaulters Emily Gale and Amanda Gale each signed with Louisiana-Lafayette.

• Cardinal Gibbons had four athletes sign. Michael Ferguson signed with the University of Tampa for lacrosse. Sean Smothers signed with Mercer for golf. Morgan Rodriguez signed with North Florida for track and cross-country. Nicole White signed with the College of Central Florida for softball.

• Miramar had two girls’ basketball players sign - Shamauria Bridges (East Tennessee State) and Rickae Jinks (Tulsa).

BOYS’ TENNIS

• Gulliver 4, Sagemont 3: Chase Perez-Blanco won No.1 singles 8-4. Baker Newman won No.2 singles 8-2. Brian Granoff won No.3 singles 9-7. GUL1-0.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

•  Gulliver 5, Sagemont 2: Olivia Thaler won No.1 singles 8-0. Estefania Navarro won No.2 singles 8-5. Tatiana Ramirez won No.4 singles 8-0. GUL1-0.
