A man charged with murder in Riverside County, Calif., was arrested Wednesday in Coral Gables, the FBI said.
Edgar Alvarez, 33, was wanted in the fatal shooting in 2006 of Emeon Hernandez at a restaurant in Moreno Valley, Calif., outside San Bernardino and east of Los Angeles. Three months before the shooting, he was also arrested in Chicago on money-laundering charges, the FBI said.
Investigators believe Alvarez fled to Mexico, then returned to the United States in 2009. They believe he lived in Las Vegas, Tennessee and Florida.
On Wednesday, the FBIs South Florida Violent Crime/Fugitive Task Force took Alvarez into custody with assistance from Coral Gables police and U.S. Secret Service.
He was held Wednesday night at the Miami-Dade County Detention Center, and will be returned to Riverside County.
