Hollywood is sending a team to Tallahassee Monday to answer questions about a recent state Auditor General’s report that blasted the city for financial missteps.
City Attorney Jeff Sheffel and Bryan Cahen, assistant director of the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency, will go before the Joint Legislative Auditing Committee.
In December, Hollywood sent the committee its response to a 25-page report that cited 13 areas where the city made financial mistakes. The city largely dismissed the findings, saying the audit took place prior to the city making significant changes.
On Wednesday, Sheffel said he had been in touch with the auditor’s office, but it has been “steadfast” and not changed any of the findings.
Mayor Peter Bober said he believes the auditors “have really made up their mind.”
“These guys are going to nail us no matter what we do,” Bober said.
