They can dish, but can they make dishes? Find out Wednesday when six South Florida media personalities face off in RA Sushi’s Foodies Show Heart charity cooking competition.
Each contestant will team up with a sushi chef to create a roll using a surprise ingredient. The winner, chosen by spectators, will have his or her roll featured on the South Miami restaurant’s menu for 30 days, with a portion of the proceeds going to the charity of his/her choice.
The contestants and their charities are New Times reporter Laine Doss, Tri County Humane Society; Miami Herald columnist Linda Gassenheimer, Camillus House; Miami Magazine critic Jen Karetnick, Doctors Without Borders; Miami Herald columnist Lydia Martin, Pridelines Youth Services; Miami Pop Media editorial director Jacquelynn Powers, Mourning Family Foundation, and Yelp Miami community director Johnny Todd, Year Up.
The 7-9 p.m. event, which features a DJ and extended happy hour specials, is at 5829 SW 73rd St., South Miami. Admission is free, but reservations are suggested at foodiesshowheart@taraink.com.
