Barry University will host its third annual Brides Walk, an event to raise awareness about domestic and dating violence among college and high school students, beginning at 1 p.m. Friday.
Hundreds of women in wedding gowns and men in tuxes will make the six-mile walk from Barry University to Johnson & Wales and back.
Preceding the walk, the college will host workshops on human rights, and dating and domestic violence.
The walk is in memory of Gladys Ricart, who was murdered in 1999 by her ex-boyfriend while preparing for her wedding.
The workshops will be held at the Andreas Building, rooms 111 & 112, located at 11300 NE Second Ave. in Miami Shores. Dinner will be provided at the campus following the walk.
