The history of the world is the history of wars. Peace breaks out every now and then for brief periods only to be ruptured by a new unpredictable clash between ideologies and nations. We are engaged in a modern time Hundred Years War. We’d better accept the idea, digest it, develop a national attitude and prepare for it.
The insincerity of the focus of our nation’s leaders on beginnings and ends of conflicts for political expediency alienates allies, masks the problems, prevents real philosophical discussion and obstructs the formulation of realistic long-term policies. It’s time for transparency and leadership.
