Troopers were investigating an accident involving five teenagers and an off-duty Florida Highway Patrol officer in Davie late Friday, according to an FHP report.
James Robinson, 41, of Davie was driving east on SW 26th Street when his unmarked 2006 Crown Victoria rammed into the left rear of a inoperable EZ-GO golf cart that was carrying Rebecca Anton, 14, of Davie, and Brooke Bruyning, 13, of Cooper City and being pushed by other teens, the report said. The cart skated across the street and into a guardrail.
The two teens in the cart were taken to Broward Health hospital, where they were in serious condition. Robinson was unharmed.
The teens pushing the cart — Robert Anton, 16; Sean Narup, 15; and Olivia Booher, 14 — were not hurt.
The accident occurred about 9:30 p.m. There were no streetlights on the roadway in the area.
Robinson was not on duty, said FHP spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky, and he tried to evade the golf cart but was unable to stop in time.
Alcohol was not involved, the report said.
